| Before each game of bingo (recall from the previous page there are
ten games per night), the Ball-Puller will announce what the "pattern"
is. The pattern is simply the pattern your numbers must for you to
win the game.
(An important note: We'll give you a cheat card with the patterns when you come to bingo, and the Ball-Puller will explain them in detail. So, just enjoy looking at the pretty pictures below, and don't get too excited if you can't remember them later. Lordie, lordie! We sure can't.) Now, your mother probably just did straight patterns (unless she was one of those cool 60's moms). But goodness knows, you've probably stopped doing anything straight by this point in your life, and even if you haven't - we have! Here is what the standard straight or "Regular" bingo pattern looks like:
As you can see, with regular bingo, you need to connect any five numbers (or four numbers and the free space) in a row to win. The row can be up, down, diagonal, or side to side. Another pattern is "four corners". Now, any good interior decorator will tell you sharp angles are out, but in Bingo, they are IN. Four corners looks like this:
Now, your mama probably never saw this next pattern. It's ever-popular Lesbian Bingo. It looks like this:
The most important (and usually largest prize) is awarded for Sister Bingo, which looks like this:
